WILLS helped raise £11,000 for a local hospice for people with terminal conditions.
Solicitors Adams Harrison, and Stevens – both from Haverhill – took part in this year's wills week, giving their time for free so fees from writing people's wills went to St Nicholas' Hospice, Bury St Edmunds. A total of ten local firms took part in the scheme.
David Harrison, of Haverhill, was one of those who took advantage of wills week to have his will prepared.
He said: "I was already going to spend the money to have a will drawn up, so it's great to know we are helping St Nicholas Hospice Care at the same time."
Margaret Lee, of St Nicholas Hospice, said: "People don't realise how important it is for us to have solicitors willing to give their busy time for free so the hospice can receive the donations. It is heartening to know that total amount was boosted by a further £2,000 as donations could be gift aided by individuals, so St Nicholas Hospice Care could claim back the tax."
All the firms which took part have been invited to the opening of the refurbished Sylvan Ward at the hospice, to see where some of the money raised will be spent.
