VULNERABLE adults and children across west Suffolk are getting the special help they require, thanks to thousands of pounds of grants from the Local Strategic Partnership's (LSP) Community Chest.
An example of the LSP's work is the help it has given members of the Extra Steps and Beyond Club, a Bury St Edmunds-based club which focuses on adults with special needs.

Thanks to a grant of £1,175, 40 members will go on a day trip to the Hippodrome Circus in Great Yarmouth – transport, tickets and supper included.

John Griffiths, chair of the West Suffolk LSP, said: "This club has benefited adults with special needs from Haverhill, Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds and beyond and the fact that it is growing year on year is a testament to its success."

The LSP is also paying for a specially trained counsellor to be available in Bury St Edmunds for five hours a week to talk to and help youngsters who have suffered abuse.

And it has launched a scheme to offer grants to people aged between 60 and 70 to help them pay for household heating.
