CAMBS COLTS LEAGUE DIVISION E

Aztecs B 10 Benwick Athletic 0

NINE different players got on the scoresheet as Aztecs ran out comfortable winners against bottom-of-the-table Benwick Athletic.

Tim Jefferies opened the scoring and
skipper Luke Bird added the second when he bundled home a curling corner from Josh Edgeley.

Just before half-time, Adam Kelly scored the goal of the season so far when he latched on to a corner from James Jefferies to unleash a thunderous volley from the edge of the penalty area into the roof of the net.

The visitors’ resistance weakened in the second half as Aztecs increased their lead.

Josh Edgeley grabbed two goals and goalkeeper Ben Lockwood made a brief appearance as a striker, scoring with his first touch.

GEORGIE Roach was on top form to beat the bury keeper five times for which one of the goals was applauded by even the Bury boys as Roach demonstrated a bicycle kick in the penalty box to score a beauty.

There was also one each for James Haylock, Sam Saunders, Alex Westdijk and Callum Slater to put the game out of reach of the Bury boys who kept attacking the Camps defence and demonstrated their enjoyment of the game.

CAMBS COLTS LEAGUE CUP FIRST ROUND

Ely Crusaders 2 Hundon Hawks 3

A BRILLIANT solo goal from Shaun Hunsdon topped an outstanding team performance from Hawks as they beat opposition from the league above in the first round of the under 16s league cup.

They twice came from behind, firstly with a fine strike from Lewis Brown in the first half and then a close range finish, following excellent team play, from Tom Lock in the second.

Hunsdon then scored one of the best goals any of the spectators had seen.

Picking the ball up 30 yards out he dribbled past three defenders before driving the ball past the excellent Ely keeper.

CAMBS COLTS LEAGUE DIVISION C

Newmarket Town B 3 Haverhill Rovers 4

NEWMARKET opened the scoring with a well-taken goal but it was not long before Edwards put Pearson through to make it 1-1.

After some neat football from Wyatt, Merritt and Pearson, Bavester finished a great move, giving the keeper no chance.

Some more great football from Rovers got merritt into the box to make it 3-1 at half time.

Newmarket reduced the deficit after half time before Edwards’ far post header restored Rovers’ two-goal advantage.

It was just as well because Newmarket grabbed a third late on but Rovers claimed the win.
